Who's It For?
This is a graduate certificate is for students who are already enrolled in graduate education at Penn in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, The Wharton School and the Weitzman School of Design. The certificate in Integrated Product Design makes a focus on product design feasible for students who are interested in the field from a wide range of disciplines. Jointly offered by the School of Engineering and Applied Science, The Wharton School and the Weitzman School of Design, the IPD certificate certifies that students obtained additional experience through product design classes with an interdisciplinary, human-centered design process for developing new product innovations.
Academic Focus
Students enrolled in the certificate will be exposed to design thinking, have the opportunity to design at different scales and scopes, prototype and iterate distinct executions of their ideas, address manufacturing concerns, design enabling technologies, consider the implications of financial models on their product design, and develop business strategies.

The IPD certificate is designed to complement Penn students’ graduate experience. It opens the door to roles and opportunities within their primary fields that are related to innovation and the design of new products and experiences.
