2014

We are in the first year of an ongoing project to Design Appropriate Point of Care Diagnostics for Sub-Saharan Africa. This project is in collaboration with the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Department of Bioengineering, and is funded by the Office of Vice Provost for Global Initiatives. Design students are working with engineering students to design devices and experiences to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes. Our first team of students traveled to Ghana this summer to understand the local culture of medicine, patients needs, health care practitioners needs and see the context of use firsthand.
