Everyday lots of different women take pregnancy tests. While most tests are over 99% accurate they’re unnecessarily made from plastic, and occasionally electronics – all of which end up in landfill-destined waste streams. Research for the project also revealed issues with the design of the tests (specifically that they require women to aim), interpretation of faint results, and privacy in how the test can be disposed. LIA is designed to address these problems. It combines simple materials and advanced technology, resulting in a pregnancy test that’s easy to use, simple to interpret, and flushable. LIA empowers women with the knowledge they need to move forward.
