Title: Thailand

In 2012, IPD partnered with Gensler and traveled to Bangkok, Thailand. We conducted research in canal-side slums to develop housing and community concepts aimed at improving quality of life and helping communities’ reach their potential. Ultimately, our solutions focused on supporting income generation, growth and adaptability, improving the urban environment and increasing communication and connectivity within the communities and with the outside world. Together, students from the four universities designed a housing concept, a community center and products that community members could produce and sell.
